Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) bowlers took part in an innovative "yorker challenge" in training ahead of the much-awaited start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) where skipper Virat Kohli also took part, as a sideline cheerleader. The 13th edition of the IPL, which got postponed due to the coronavirus scare in India, will now be played across three venues in the UAE -- Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Dubai.
Ahead of the IPL 2020 kick-off, RCB's bowling coach Adam Griffith organized an innovative head-to-head challenger for his bowlers in training.
"Our bowling coach, Adam Griffith, comes up with a fun and challenging competition to help our bowlers fire in those yorkers. Safe to say all our bowlers are sharpshooters!" RCB wrote on Twitter while sharing the training video.
In the above-mentioned video, Kohli can be seen enthusiastically cheering on his bowlers while even passing cheeky comments when they failed to hit the target. Navdeep Saini, Yuzvendra Chahal, Isuru Udana, Washington Sundar, Umesh Yadav, Shivam Dube, etc all took part in this training drill.
Kohli has played 177 matches for RCB so far and has managed to score 5,412 runs in the tournament. He also picked up the Orange Cap in the 2016 edition after scoring 973 runs, including four centuries and seven half-centuries. The IPL 2020 will be played in the UAE from September 19-November 10 and the tournament will run for 53 days.
RCB will take on SunRisers Hyderabad in their opening match on September 21.
