The IPL 2020 has seen some magnificent performances from youngsters. However, for Ashish Nehra, the former left-arm pacer of the Indian cricket team, two youngsters in particular have impressed him tremendously. Nehra has singled out Devdutt Padikkal of Royal Challengers Bangalore and Ravi Bishnoi of Kings XI Punjab as the two youngsters who have impressed him a lot and he has said that their brand of fearless cricket augurs well for the future of India. Bishnoi was part of the Under-19 World Cup team in 2020 that lost to Bangladesh in the final while Padikkal has been in fine form in the domestic circuit.
Speaking to host broadcasters Star Sports, Ashish Nehra outlined the reasons why these two were special. “Padikkal and Bishnoi have been fearless with their cricket. The exploits of Padikkal have been such that Parthiv Patel, who has impressed for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the past, has no place in the side now. Looking at both of their talents, the future is good for Indian cricket,” Nehra said.
On the other hand, Sanjay Bangar, the former batting coach of the Indian cricket team, said that he was impressed with the way Thangarasu Natarajan was performing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the tournament and he was particularly happy with the way how he was nailing the yorker. T Natarajan made his name in the Tamil Nadu Premier League and he has had an impressive stint with David Warner’s team so far.
Impressive Padikkal, Bishnoi
In five matches, Devdutt Padikkal has scored three fifties and smashed 178 runs at an average of 35.6 and a strike-rate of 131. But, it is his clean striking that has impressed everyone, including his Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli. Before coming to the IPL, Padikkal was in fine form for Karnataka in the domestic season, scoring runs in all formats.
Ravi Bishnoi has been consistent for Kings XI Punjab and in six matches, he has taken seven wickets at an average of 26.7. After the end of the match, KL Rahul hailed Ravi Bishnoi and his talent.
“He's (Ravi Bishnoi) always enjoyed those situations, that's great to see for a youngster. All of them are professionals, and they know where they're going wrong. Everyone's working hard and they want to contribute for the team. They have proved themselves in the past, sometimes it doesn't come off, but you got to be patient,” Rahul said.
