Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) are facing Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) after their heart-breaking first match. However, KXIP skipper KL Rahul, who is eyeing a win, has already broken an eight-year-old record held by Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar.
The Karnataka lad became the fastest Indian to reach the 2000 run-mark in the Indian Premier League (IPL) - in his 60th innings. As for Tendulkar, he achieved this feat in 63 innings.
The 28-year-old Rahul has been in prolific form since his move to Kings XI Punjab in 2018. Rahul's teammate Chris Gayle holds the record for the fastest batsman to reach 2000 runs in his 48th innings in IPL.
As for the clash, Bangalore won the toss and opted to field. Earlier, the Punjab franchise faced a loss at the hands of Delhi Capitals (DC).
The match went into Super Over and there was also controversy over the erroneous one-run short signal by the umpire.
As for Bangalore, they got off to a winning start, thanks to Devdutt Padikkal and Yuzvendra Chahal who helped notched up a 10-run victory.
