Mumbai Indians (MI) cruised to a 49-run win over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 on Wednesday (September 23).
Earlier in the day, KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik won the toss and invited Rohit Sharma's MI to bat first at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
The Mumbai side got off to a poor start after they lost Quinton de Kock (1), but skipper Rohit changes things massively. He along with Suriyakumar Yadav and Saurabh Tiwary put on good partnerships.
Rohit's captain's knock of 80 rubs which propelled MI to 195/6. Pat Cummins had a horror show with the ball as he ended up giving away 49 runs from his three overs.
In chase of a massive target of 196 runs, KKR kept losing wickets on their way. Eoin Morgan (16) and Andre Russell (11) also failed due to Jasprit Bumrah's brilliant display.
Cummins played a quick knock of 33 runs but the Knights were way off the mark as they finished the game on 146/9.
The victory now got MI on the top spot of the points table, followed by Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Royal Challengers Banglore (RCB) on second and third respectively.
