Rashid Khan is one of the best spinners in the Sunrisers Hyderabad team. He has had tremendous success in the Indian Premier League over the years, with his peak being the No.1 ranking in T20Is. The Afghanistan legspinner said before the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore that he never thought about becoming the No.1 bowler in the format and he added that he focused on just one thing in order to gain success.
“I am focused more on economical bowling. Dot ball and building pressure on the batsmen is something that I focus on. My emphasis is always on economical bowling as that might reap rewards for the other bowlers bowling at the other end,” Rashid Khan said.
With 55 wickets in three seasons, Rashid Khan is one of the lethal bowlers operating in the IPL.
Wait-and-watch vs RCB
Rashid Khan will be up against Virat Kohli, one of the top batsman in the world and the leading run-getter for Royal Challengers Bangalore for the last four seasons. Rashid Khan believes that it needs a good ball to get rid of him but he is adopting a wait-and-watch approach.
“No doubt he (Kohli) is one of the best players in the world and you have to have the best ball for him, there is no excuse to bowl a bad delivery. He’ll be back in the field after a long break, let’s see what his reaction is, how he performs,” Rashid Khan said.
Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad have clashed 14 times in the IPL since 2013 and Sunrisers Hyderabad have a 7-6 head-to-head advantage. However, David Warner’s side have won IPL 2016 by beating Royal Challengers Bangalore while they have also knocked them out of the play-off contentions a couple of times.
