Has Shane Watson become the next Jofra Archer? Not talking about fast bowling but about the prediction made by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batsman ahead of their clash against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP).
Ahead of CSK's 10-wicket win over KXIP, Watson had taken to Twitter and wrote, "The perfect game for @ChennaiIPL is coming!!!".
After the prediction, a bunch of new records were set as MS Dhoni’s CSK beat KL Rahul’s Kings XI Punjab by 10 wickets and 14 balls remaining.
CSK openers Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis formed an incredible unbeaten opening partnership of 181 runs to successfully chase down a decent target of 179.
Both Watson (83* off 53) and Du Plessis (87 off 53) scored unbeaten half-centuries. Their partnership of 181* is not the highest opening partnership for CSK but also the highest ever stand for the Chennai-based franchise.
Before Sunday, the record for the highest partnership for CSK in the IPL was held by Mike and Murali Vijay who recorded a 159-run stand against RCB in IPL 2011.
CSK needed this win after having lost three games in a row. So far 9 IPL fixtures have been played in Dubai alone and Chennai Super Kings were the first team to register a win while chasing at the Dubai International stadium.
