Kolkata Knight Riders have roped in Punjab batsman Gurkeerat Singh Mann for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as a replacement for the left-handed batsman Rinku Singh, who has been ruled out of the entire season due to a knee injury.

Gurkeerat, who played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) last season was released by the franchise and didn't find any takers in this year's player auction. Gurkeerat has also represented Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings in the past in the IPL, playing in 41 games.

Rinku, on the other hand, has represented Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings and has played 11 games in the IPL. He featured in just one game in the last season under Eoin Morgan's captaincy.

"Kolkata Knight Riders have acquired Gurkeerat at his base price of INR 50L. The VIVO IPL 2021 will be Gurkeerat's eighth IPL season," an IPL release stated.
