MS Dhoni was visibly tired and drained in Chennai Super Kings' loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2020 but he had kept wickets for 20 overs and batted for 14 overs in extreme heat and humidity.

MS Dhoni was visibly drained towards the end of the match between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad but his efforts won the hearts of social media.

MS Dhoni was once again the lone hope for Chennai Super Kings in their chase of 165 against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Sunrisers Hyderabad had smashed 64 runs in the last five overs and had reduced Chennai Super Kings to 42/4 in the ninth over. Once again facing an uphill task after the top order collapsed, Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni steadied the ship and along with Ravindra Jadeja, managed to get going. Jadeja smashed fifty but he fell as Chennai Super Kings neared the target.

All hopes rested on MS Dhoni but he struggled to time the ball. Despite Bhuvneswar Kumar’s injury, Chennai Super Kings could not capitalise on the weakness and they lost the match by seven runs. However, towards the fag end of the game, Dhoni was visibly tired and he was on his haunches getting some treatment.

That moment immediately went viral on social media and many fans paid their tribute to MS Dhoni and his contributions. The tweets were all in support of MS Dhoni, despite the fact that once again, the acceleration push had been given a bit too late.

Here is a tribute to MS Dhoni’s endurance captured in some of the tweets

Difficult in UAE heat

MS Dhoni said in the post-match presentation that it was difficult in the Dubai heat to get going and he was not middling the balls as he would have wanted to.

“Long time back once we lost three in a row. We need to get a lot of things right. It is the professionalism. We need to take our catches not bowl no-balls. Those are the controllables and maybe we are getting too relaxed. We have been a bit too relaxed at times. After the 16th over, we had two good overs but overall we could have been slightly better. Nobody wants to drop catches but at the same at this level, we need to draw a line and take these catches especially when the team hasn't been doing that outstandingly well. It is very important to be at your best,” MS Dhoni said.

The situation with the loss has gotten even tougher for MS Dhoni and Chennai Super Kings. With three losses in four games, they are at the bottom and will need to win at least seven out of their next 10 games to have a chance for the playoffs.

Chennai Super Kings will take on Kings XI Punjab at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
