Rajasthan Royals' (RR) Sanju Samson has been having an exciting Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. After scoring 74 in his first game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Sanju Samson played a whirlwind knock of 85 against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) to help Royals chase down 224 runs target.

Seein his blistering performance, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor called the Kerala batsman the next MS Dhoni. Shashi Tharoor took to Twitter to praise the batsman and wrote, "What an absolutely incredible win for @rajasthanroyals! I’ve known @iamSanjuSamson for a decade & told him when he was 14 that he would one day be the next MS Dhoni. Well, that day is here. After his two amazing innings in this IPL you know a world class player has arrived."

However, Gautam Gambhir was quick to reply to his fellow politician and responded to Tharoor’s tweet by writing: Sanju Samson doesn’t need to be next anyone. He will be ‘the’ Sanju Samson of Indian Cricket."

Not just Gambhir, even bowler Sreesanth replied to Thiruvananthapuram MP and said, "I am sure he will still keep playing well and it’s not just these 2 innings ..he is gonna break a lot of records too and win many more world cups for our country. So pls don’t compare him to anyone ..he is an amazing Malayali from our Gods own country . His best is yet to come".

Samson had arrived at the crease after Jos Buttler departed cheaply. He shared 81 runs off just 42 balls with Steve Smith for the second wicket and laid a strong foundation for the chase before the latter departed.

After Smith’s departure, the right-handed batsman kept the chase on. After departing in the 17th over, Rahul Tewatia came in and hit five sixes in an over to seal the game for Royals. Sanju Samson was adjudged the Man of the Match for his 42-ball effort that was studded with four fours and seven sixes.
