MS Dhoni has amassed plenty of records in the Indian Premier League and one feels that some of them might never be broken again.

MS Dhoni holds numerous records in IPL history but there are at least four records of his that might never be broken by any player.

MS Dhoni has achieved everything that he wanted to whether in franchise cricket and in international cricket. In the international arena, he is the only captain in history to have won all three ICC trophies (the World T20 in 2007, the World up in 2011 and the Champions Trophy in 2013). He has also won the Asia Cup in both ODI and T20I formats. In franchise cricket, MS Dhoni has helped Chennai Super Kings to the Indian Premier League title three times and the Champions League T20I tournament twice, once in India and once in South Africa.

Apart from his captaincy, there are some individual records that might never be broken of MS Dhoni in the IPL. His feats are phenomenal and that is why, it might stand the test of time.

104 – These are the number of wins that he has as captain of both the Chennai Super Kings and Rising Pune Supergiant. The nearest is Gautam Gambhir with 71 but he has stopped playing cricket. Rohit Sharma has 60 wins but it will take close to 8-9 years for Rohit to even come near Dhoni’s mark. This is why one feels his record might never be broken.

100 – The number of matches where Dhoni has hit at least one six. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) holds the record of hitting at least one six in his last 100 matches. Apart from Dhoni, no other batsman has been able to hit a six in 100 matches. This feat of unprecedented and consistent hitting might never be matched.

38 – The number of stumpings by MS Dhoni in IPL> Dinesh Karthik is a close second with 30 but with Dhoni’s wicketkeeping skills getting better, it might be  a bit hard for Karthik to catch up to Dhoni.

10 – This is the number of times Chennai Super Kings have reached the playoffs under MS Dhoni. Barring 2016 and 2017 in which the franchise was banned, Chennai Super Kings have reached the playoffs in 2008, 2009, won the title in 2010 and 2011, eliminated in the finals in 2012 and 2013, playoff in 2014 and final in 2015 before winning in 2018. The 2019 IPL final loss continued the trend where Chennai Super Kings would dominate the league stage but fall flat in the final. The mark of 10 IPL playoffs might never be broken by a captain in the current generation.
