Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput didn't hold back at all while taking a brutal dig at former India captain Sourav Ganguly on Saturday. At the centre of it all was, of course, the one and only Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
A couple of week ago, Ganguly had cast major doubts over MSD's capabilities as a T20 player. "I am not too sure if Dhoni is a good T20 player. He is a champion ODI player but when it comes to T20 cricket, in 10 years, he has got one fifty and that's not the best record," Ganguly had told India Today.
As it turned out, MSD rolled back the years on Saturday when he played a scintillating knock of 61 from 34 balls to guide his team Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) past Sunrisers Hyderabad in an Indian Premier League (IPL). Mahi's belligerence with the bat was studded with five boundaries and three maximums. The icing on the cake was the winning shot hit by the legend, something fans in India have seen him do innumerable times over the past decade.
Apart from the millions of Dhoni worshipers the world over, there was one man who was absolutely over the moon to see Mahi come back to form in style. That man, of course, was Sushant Singh Rajput.
The 31-year-old actor had done a stupendous job last year when he played MSD on screen in the biopic, M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story. To get into the skin of the character, Sushant had spent a lot of time with the former India captain. Naturally, the two formed a genuine friendship through the making of the film, which was there for all to see during promotions.
After Dhoni's IPL exploits on Saturday, Sushant came out in full support of him when he blasted those who had doubted the RPS keeper-batsman. Although he didn't take Dada's name, it was obvious who the actor was hinting at when he wrote, "Dhoni is not a .... " what did you say ?? Wonder where are the Experts now. Proud of you mahi."
Here's Sushant's tweet:
Knowing Ganguly's fiery temperament, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Dada of Indian cricket having a prompt response for Sushant's thinly veiled attack.
