KL Rahul thanks Karnataka Government for Ekalavya Award

Indian cricketer KL Rahul was awarded by the Karnataka Government the Ekalavya Award. The Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) captain took to Twitter to thanks the government.

He wrote, "Thank You Government of Karnataka for bestowing me with the Ekalavya Award. It would not be possible without the support of my coaches, teammates, friends and families. I will continue to work hard to make our state and India proud #grateful".

The Mangalore native is still in United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 despite his side being out of the tournament.

As for the Ekalavya Award, it is given by the Karnataka state government for outstanding performance in sports.

Rahul's KXIP teammate and friend Mayank Agarwal has also been conferred with the award. Agarwal is a native from Bangalore. 

Veda Krishnamurthy, the Indian Women Cricket team’s batting all-rounder, has also been conferred with the prestigious Ekalavya Award.

Krishnamurthy has been one of the vital cogs of the Women in Blue and was honoured was with the prestigious award for her immense contribution to both Karnataka and women’s cricket.

As for their performance at the IPLm, Punjab is knocked out of the cash-rich tournament after failing to qualify for the playoffs. 

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) struck the blow to their campaign as they won by nine wickets. KXIP finished the season on the sixth spot, grabbing 12 points from 14 matches.
