Health minister and Malviya Nagar candidate from BJP, Kalicharan Saraf, is concentrating on door-to-door campaigns. He has been visiting the homes of BJP workers in all the wards and talking to them. While he sits in one house, the neighbours welcome him as their own. On Thursday, he was in Rajapark area. Unfazed by public outcry over the transfers that were carrried out in the medical and health department, and local issues of Malviya Nagar, Saraf claims he will register a bigger win than last time. He spoke to Abhishek Tiwari on various issues. Excerpts:

Have you fulfilled the promises you made to voters last time and what are the issues you plan on taking up now?

BJP is a party, which delivers on what it commits. I promised last time there won’t be a single ward in my constituency where there is no dispensary and now in all 9 wards, there is a dispensary. My second promise was trains starting from Jaipur junction and going through Gandhi Nagar railway station and Durgapura station will halt at these stations. Previously only 10% trains stopped here. Now, 80% trains are halting at these stations. Several water tanks  promised to people have also been provided.

What are you promising the people this time?

This time, the work of getting the wires of street light underground will be taken up. Most importantly, people from “Pursharthi” community in Rajaprak, FrontinerColony, Adarsh Nagar don’t have the lease deeds they entitle them to the property they are holding. I will ensure they get the pattas.

There are a large number of government employees in this constituency. And, there were several pleas for transfers. Several remain disappointed?

Transfers is “dudhari talwar” (double-edged sword). 500 people want their transfers should be done. It can be done only on the posts which exist. If it’s not done, the person gets upset and talks nonsensical things which have no relation with why the work couldn’t be done. Transfers are not an issue. People know who is Kalicharan.

Former CM Ashok Gehlot campainged in this constituency. How does it affect your chances?

I consider Ashok Gehlot as a big leader and he has to address public meetings here. Moreover, there were slogans of both Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot there. Congress is a wedding procession without a groom. We are under the leadership of Vasundhara Raje and I will defeat Congress candidate with a greater margin this time.
