Election department officials said that there is an increase of 5.19 lakh voters.

The total number of electorates in state after the completion of the tally of voters list is 4.72 crore as per the brief review program conducted by state election commission. Election department officials said that there is an increase of 5.19 lakh voters.

“After final publication of list, the voters tally across the state has reached at 4,72,56,247. It has 2,47,6888 males and 2,25,49,359 females,” Ashwini Bhagat, chief electoral officer, said on Monday. He further stated that under the program 14.41 lakh voters were added to the list and 9.22 lakh were removed. Thus, the new list has 5.19 lakh new voters.  The ratio of first time voters in the age group of 18-19 is at 1.97 percent as per the list, said the officer.

Meanwhile, Bhagat was on a one day tour to Ajmer where he reviewed poll preparations with district collector Gaurav Goyal, who is district election officer and rest senior officials engaged in election duty.

The officials were instructed by the CEO to ensure strict vigilance at polling stations and deploy paramilitary force at sensitive booths with a provision of live webcasting.  He specifically laid stress on the distribution of voters ID cards on January 25, The Voters Day, so the electorates face no problems in casting votes.

The model codes of conduct must be implemented strictly and any complaint surfacing should be disposed of immediately, he instructed.

“The preparations for bypolls in Ajmer and Mandalgarh are complete. Sensitive and most sensitive polling booths have been identified where paramilitary forces along with live webcasting will be deployed,” said Bhagat talking to scribes.
