Amit Shah’s choice tipped to become Rajasthan BJP president

Shekhawat is the first choice of BJP President Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the top party post, sources said.

Following a poor show in the assembly polls, the Rajasthan BJP unit is headed for a revamp ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Sources said Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat’s name is in the fray for the post of state president. 

Shekhawat is the first choice of  BJP President Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the top party post, sources said. 

Earlier, former chief minister Vasundhara Raje had succeeded in ensure the position for Madan Lal Saini.

Sources said heads will roll for the defeat in state beginning at the top. Saini will be replaced for losing the assembly polls, a party official said, adding, Shah is looking to build his team of loyalists in Rajasthan.

“Shah is planning to make changes in the state organization on the basis of this report,” a party member said. 

In the selection of the Leader of Opposition too, BJP’s central leadership did not give the responsibility to Raje this time. Instead, on Shah’s instructions, the party appointed Gulab Chand Kataria as the LoP, said sources.
