Barcode based ID cards to curb fake voting at Rajasthan University

Rajasthan University has taken strict steps to prevent fake voting this time. This year, the Rajasthan University Administration has introduced barcode based identity cards to the students. Students will be given entry in the polling station only after scanning the identity cards.

Rajasthan University has taken strict steps to prevent fake voting this time. This year, the Rajasthan University Administration has introduced barcode based identity cards to the students. Students will be given entry in the polling station only after scanning the identity cards.

The polling will be held on August 31 for the Rajasthan University Students’ elections and 22,677 voters will cast their votes. “The University administration has issued barcode containing identity cards to all the students. Admission of some students of Law College is delayed. Therefore,  IDs will also be issued to them soon. Work is being done of feeding  I-Cards data online and will be completed by Monday,” said Prof VV Singh, Chief election officer of RUSU elections.

He added that university administration has arranged 19 mobile barcode scanners to scan the I-cards. During the time of voting, entry will be given to the students at the main entrance only after scanning the barcode of I-Cards in four constituent colleges namely Rajasthan College, Maharani College, Maharaj College and Rajasthan College. 

Similarly, at the university campus too, students will be given admission after scanning of the identity cards. After scanning the barcode of the I-cards, the full details of the students will be showed on the screen that will help in catching fake voters. If any student comes with fake card, then the access would be denied. Rajasthan University administration will issue the list of the candidates after scrutinizing the nomination of nominees from 10 am to 1 am on Monday. The candidates will be able to withdraw their name between 1 to 3 PM. After this, the final list of candidates will be issued at 4 pm.

Similarly, at the university campus too, students will be given admission after scanning of the identity cards. After scanning the barcode of the I-cards, the full details of the students will be showed on the screen that will help in catching fake voters.
