The light and sound show at Jaisalmer War Museum held on June 10 was dedicated to the nation by Major General OP Gulia, General Officer Commanding, Battle Axe Division.
It was attended by all the important civil dignitaries of Jaisalmer and a large number of public. The 40-minute show was conceptualised by GOC, Konark Corps, Lt Gen RK Jagga. The ‘Curtain Raiser Show’ was inaugurated by Lt Gen DR Soni, GOC-in-C Southern Command on June 1. The show was beautifully designed by fusion of laser, lights, sound and visual effects. The narration was done by the in the Bollywood actor Kabir Bedi.
The show brought alive the history of wars fought by Indian Army since Independence. The first misadventure by Pakistan in 1947 in Kashmir, the 1965 war and the crushing defeat Pakistan suffered in 1971 was narrated in the show. The legendary Battle of Longewala was also showcased in detail with audio-visual effects of laser animation of actual bunkers, tanks, guns, aircrafts and soldiers. The show was concluded with patriotic song on Rann Bhumi of Jaisalmer that expressed gratitude towards the martyrs and thanked citizens for their unwavering faith in the Indian Armed Forces. The light and south show is also a means that can give the necessary boost to tourism in the border district.
