Congress didn’t give 55 paise relief to farmers in 55-yrs: Arun Chaturvedi

Senior BJP leader and social justice and empowerment minister Arun Chaturvedi said on Saturday hit out at the Congress for ignoring the interests of farmers during the 55-year rule.

The welfare of farmers has come on the centre stage with both - the BJP and Congress proclaiming to be their main benefactors. Chaturvedi replying to the allegations made by the Congress national spokesperson Pawan Khera.

He said that Congress does not have any issue. Hence their leaders are spreading lies. The central leaders of Congress coming to Rajasthan are given false and inaccurate information by the state unit and on the basis of information, they make statements in Rajasthan. Chaturvedi said the BJP government waived off loans of farmers upto Rs50,000 and gave them relief in electricity bills. He said that in 2015, the BJP government compensated farmers for 33 per cent crop damage.

Chaturvedi said that in the 13th Finance Commission, the Congress government had given only Rs 83,426 crore to Rajasthan while in the tenure of BJP government, the Finance Commission has given Rajasthan Rs2,18,145 crore.

In the matter of grant-in-tech, Congress gave Rs 13,108 crore to the state, while the BJP gave Rs 22,717 crore. For disaster relief, Congress gave Rs 2,479 crore to the state, whereas the BJP has given Rs 4,570 crore to the state.
