Former BJP state president Ashok Parnami addressing press conference at BJP headquarters on Monday.

Parnami claimed that Congress had been trying to stop the Yatra and it tried so by going to the court. After this, now there is an attempt to stop the yatra by taking to dirty politics.

The BJP has accused former chief minister Ashok Gehlot and Congress for stone pelting in Jodhpur’s Pipad city during chief minister Vasundhara Raje’s Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra recently. Co-coordinator of the yatra and former BJP state president Ashok Parnami alleged that during the ‘Parivartan Yatra’ of Raje in 2003, at the behest of former chief minister Gehlot, stone pelting had been done in many places. Now efforts are being made to obstruct the yatra by throwing stones at the Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra.

Parnami said in the press conference at BJP state headquarters on Monday that the former CM should tell that if the stone pelters were not Congressmen, or whether miscreants were paid money to throw stones? Parnami showed a video clip, in which the stone pelters were raising slogans in support of Gehlot.

Parnami claimed that Congress had been trying to stop the Yatra and it tried so by going to the court. After this, now there is an attempt to stop the yatra by taking to dirty politics.

Parnami said that the chief minister’s yatra will continue as per the prescribed schedule. “There is panic within the Congress with the extraordinary affection of the people which the BJP is getting during the yatra.” He also blamed the Congress of dividing the people on the basis of caste and said that BJP is developing the state by taking all the sections of the society together. While targeting Gehlot, Parnami said that the yatra was successfully conducted in Udaipur division and it is successfully going on in Jodhpur.

Gehlot has a strong hold in Pipad city and this is the place where stone pelting occured, Parnami said. The police have arrested those involved in the incident. In the investigation, it will be clear whether they are Congressman or not, he added.

In the year 2003, during the Parivartan yatra of Raje, stone pelting in Jalore, Jaitaran, Bikaner was done at the behest of Gehlot, he alleged.

Speaking about Gehlot’s comments on the expenditure incurred during Gaurav Yatra, Parnami said that Gehlot should remember his tenure when his government spent government money for inviting Sonia Gandhi for the refinery work while she was not a prime minister. Apart from this, he invited Rahul and Sonia in several government programmes.
