BJP legislator Gyandev Ahuja raised the issue of corruption in the social justice and empowerment department (SJED) during the assembly session on Monday.
Ahuja said that an IAS officer was engaging in corruption. He warned social justice and empowerment minister Arun Chaturvedi to be careful as he felt the corrupt officer could bring a bad name to the department.
Legislative Assembly Vice-President Rao Rajendra Singh did not allow Ahuja to take the name of any official.
During Zero Hour, Ahuja raised the issue of corruption in the SJED and accused the department of corruption in the purchase of bedding and other goods.Chaturvedi said that in 2016-17,the departmental purchasing committee was formed and bedding and other goods were purchased from the National Textile Corporation.
According to the rules,there is a provision for purchasing goods from the public sector without tender. Following this rule, goods worth Rs 4.24 crore was purchased from National Textile Corporation.Newspapers have called it cheap goods. For this, the departmental committee inspected the spot and examined the goods. The pillows and mattresses were found according to standard parameters in this investigation.This case is also under consideration in the Lokayukta.The committee formed by the Lokayukta has been inspected.
