If we can’t accept the disabled, then it is our failure as society: RSS chief Mohan Rao Bhagwat

RSS chief addresses the session during the two-day National Conference of Samadrishti, Kshamata Vikas Evam Anusandhan Mandal (SAKSHAM) at Jamdoli on Sunday.

Bhagwat was addressing the concluding session of the two-day National Conference of Samadrishti, Kshamata Vikas Evam Anusandhan Mandal (SAKSHAM) at Jamdoli on Sunday.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Rao Bhagwat said on Sunday that Problems of divyang in a society, where crores of people live, is a stigma for us. “If we cannot help them find a place in the society, then it is our shortcoming. If we do not help them stand up equally then our society will be called an incomplete one.”

Bhagwat was addressing the concluding session of the two-day National Conference of Samadrishti, Kshamata Vikas Evam Anusandhan Mandal (SAKSHAM) at Jamdoli on Sunday. He, was on a ten-day stay in the state and he left for Nagpur after the event.  

Bhagwat had reached Jodhpur on September 21, on a 10-day Parvas in the state. After this, he stayed in Nagaur for five days and addressed various organisational meetings and programmes there. On Sunday, in the conference in Jamdoli, Bhagwat emphasised on the problems of divyang in the country and expressed confidence that soon their problems will be reduced.

He added that the problems of the divyangs are not only his own but it can also be called the problem of the society. In his 40-minute speech, RSS chief emphasised upon to give equal rights to the divyang.  

“The task of serving the divayang is very difficult and due to our insensitivity, efforts towards service in this area has diminished. Divyang do not need compassion, they need empathy and cooperation,” said the RSS chief.

More than 1,600 divyang and representatives of various organisations working for the specially abled persons joined this two-day national conference, which the RSS chief addressed. Nearly 60 stalls were installed at the venue, in which information about equipment for specially abled persons and the government schemes being run for them was given.
