A direct flight from Jaipur to Agra which was supposed to commence from Thursday was cancelled on the very first day itself.
The flight AI 9687 was supposed to depart from Jaipur Airport at about 6.50 am and the passengers were in the process of boarding the flight which was initially late. However, later it was informed that the flight was being cancelled.
The passengers got perturbed and felt harassed as they had to either cancel or change their travel plans.
The flight AI 9688 which was supposed to fly from Agra for Jaipur also failed to arrive on Thursday.
Air India officials informed that due to bad weather the flight did not operate. “The flight was cancelled due to weather conditions in Agra,” claimed an official.
The flight will now operate on four days on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
As per the schedule, the flight number AI 9687 will fly at 6.50 am and will reach Agra by 8 am while flight number AI 9688 will depart from Agra at 8.30 am and reach Jaipur at 9.30 am.
The flight previously started in December last year and thereafter was abruptly shut by the end of February this year without giving any reason.
Then also Alliance Air subsidiary of Air India was running this flight.
The flight is expected to provide an impetus to the tourism sector. Jaipur and Agra are connected by rail service already but high-end tourists prefer air connectivity and this flight will provide direct connectivity between the two cities known for tourism centers with mere one hour travel time.
