The Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC) has imported the ‘rail’ (metro track) from Japan lying in the underground metro corridor from Chandpole to Badi Chaupar in the walled city.
The ‘rail’ will reach Jaipur from Japan in the last week of June and will be laid in the first week of July. Under metro project phase 1B, the metro underground corridor is under construction from Chandpole to Badi Chaupar. JMRC has set a target of commencing commercial operation of metro in the underground corridor till October. Therefore, the work of Phase 1B has been accelerated.
According to JMRC officers, the construction of the bed for the ‘rail’ in the tunnel has been completed. Now, the work of laying ‘rail’ will start soon. In addition to laying the ‘rail’, the work of signalling and electronics and communication on the metro track and Choti and Badi Chaupar Metro station will also start. At present, the work of finishing the metro stations are being done. After completing the finishing work of the metro stations, the work of concourse and refrigeration, electronic communication and controlling and operating systems will be done.
JMRC had completed the civil work of the underground Metro stations at Choti Chaupar and Badi Chaupar two month ago.
Now, the entrance work of both Metro stations is being carried out. Three-storey underground metro stations have been constructed at Choti and Badi Chaupar. Now, the work is going on to build the platform at the station. Both the stations have a depth 20 metres.
The bottom will be the Metro platform and the track and concourse have been made on top of it. In the concourse, there will be a ticket window and security checking system. A duct is made for water, electricity and other services on the roof slab.
Target Set
Under metro project phase 1B, the metro underground corridor is under construction from Chandpole to Badi Chaupar. JMRC has set a target of commencing commercial ops in the underground corridor till October. Therefore,
the work of Phase 1B has been accelerated.
