Flaying the system, senior Congress leader and former minister Harimohan Sharma said, “The issue of puja at Maandhata Balaji cenotaph had been laying pending for last eight months, but the district administration and the ruling party amid bureaucratic inefficiency and lack of political will never bothered to take up the issue seriously nor attempted to analyse the public sentiment.”

Just because of the prevailing laxity, the decision to allow lighting of lamp at the cenotaph was taken at last after the frantic frenzy gripped the city while the same decision could have been taken before the entire episode started, Sharma added.

The internet services have been suspended with the imposition of prohibitory order under section 144 in the district since last eight days causing huge inconvenience to the common man. The salaries of thousands of government employees in the district have not been sanctioned and deposited to their accounts, large number of students have failed to apply to their respective exams and competitive events, functioning of E–Mitra centres is out of gear with common man not able to get monthly ration material from government run fair price shops in the district due to suspension of internet services.

The suspension of services is in place since December 31 morning and are likely to remain suspended for a few more days as Vishav Hindu Parishad and some other associated outfits in a bid to permanently resolve Maandhata Bajali cenotaph issue have given a call for Hadouti Bandh on January 12.

The customers including BPL and APL families are severely hit by the suspension of internet services in the district and they are forced to buy ration from the retail shops. The work at 410 PDS shops in the district has been suspended due to suspension of internet services as the entire system nowadays is online,” said Santosh Jindal, president of Bundi Ration Dealer Association.

The public anger and discontentment against the district collector Shivangi Swarnkar and SP Adarsh Sidhu is also apparent as people are demanding removal of the collector and the SP from the district
