Rajasthan Day celebrations seem to be turning into a political platform. While former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and PCC chief Sachin Pilot on Friday slammed the government for spending too much for the event, Industries Minister Rajpal Singh Shekhawat retaliated to the duo’s claims.

While replying to Congress leaders on this issue, Shekhawat said that it is unfortunate that the party considers celebrating Rajasthan Diwas as “aadambar”(splurging money). Addressing a press conference at the BJP’s headquarters on Friday, Shekhawat said, “Pilot is new to Rajasthan but grassroots leaders like Gehlot, who has been CM twice, should not be saying such things. Their statements will only dishonour Rajasthan.”

He added, “If Pilot considers Rajasthan Day celebration as “aadambar purna” than there cannot be a more controversial statement than this. The history of Rajasthan is glorious. People take inspiration from it. Go anywhere in the world. People want to know about our culture and Indian National Movement. In such a situation, there can be no more unfortunate statement than Pilot’s.”

Rajpal also attacked Pilot for his statement to keep the public away from the ceremony. He said that if such a big programme is disorganised, no one flock would for it.

Congress only says that there is no need to create a system. He claimed that during Pravasi Bharatiya Sammelan, which was held during the Congress rule a few years back, the people were not allowed to enter the venue of the event.

The Congress government had not given entry to the common man in the cultural program at Kraft market and Sisodia Rani’s garden. Shekhawat said we should not play politics and put our state’s reputation in limbo.  We all are proud to be Rajasthani, he said.“Congress itself is a disorganized party. It has not played the role of the opposition in four years,” he said further during the press conference.
