On Tuesday, the petrol price in the city was Rs 66.63 per liter while a day before it was Rs 66.54. Before that, on July 9, the rate of petrol was Rs 66.34 per litre.

After the new system of daily revision in petrol prices was introduced by the government a month back from June 15, there was a regular drop in the price and it has been 3-4 days now that the rates have been rising.

However, even then the consumer is still at benefit because on June 15, the petrol rate was Rs 68.25 per liter when the new system of daily changes in rate was implemented.

A day before that, the rate was Rs 69.44 per liter.

“The rates are getting reduced, though marginally, it’s a good news for us,” said Ajay Kumar a consumer who claimed that his monthly petrol bill is Rs between Rs 3,000-Rs 4,000.

Even as the decision is beneficial for the consumers, the petrol pumps are feeling the pinch of this new step. They are claiming that this new system of changing rate is hurting them financially.

A petrol pump owner, for example, is putting up the changed system saying that if suppose a petrol pump has taken 1,00,000 liter petrol then he has incurred a loss of Rs 2,48,000 till now.

They claim that their margin is getting affected because of the new system. They have, however, suspended their proposed strike which was to be Wednesday and now there won’t be any strike.

In a release issued by Rajasthan Petroleum Dealers Association, it was informed that the strike has been called off.
