The government is trying to promote caste-based appeasement by asking feedback of people in government jobs on the basis of caste. Similarly the BJP organisation has started targeting various castes, said PCC chief, Sachin Pilot while accusing the BJP.
Pilot has strongly condemned the state CMHO for asking the doctors under him to give details about their caste. Pilot while releasing a statement said that the government is trying to collect caste-wise data of all the doctors working in the government hospitals. For this the CMHOs of Bikaner, Nagaur, Jodhpur and Barmer were asked to submit feedback based on caste of doctors working there which is wrong and also puts a question mark on the government’s intention.
It may be recalled that DNA had on June 22, published a news saying that an order asking doctors with the Rajasthan government posted at the districts to specify their caste was signed by additional director, gazette, Dr OP Thankan and issued to Chief Medical and Health Officers (CMHOs) of Bikaner, Nagaur, Jodhpur and Barmer.
The order ran thus: To know the caste of in-charge medical officers. The order accompanies a format in which all CMHOs, their deputies and in-charge at CHCs and PHCs have been asked to mention their name, designation, caste and service period.
However, when contacted, health officials admitted the order was there but called it a genuine mistake. “It was a confusion actually. The order was meant to seek category not the caste of health officers posted in field,” Dr VK Mathur, Director, Public Health had told DNA. As the mistake came to notice, corrected orders were sent to respective districts, he added.
