President Standards conferred on three armoured regiments

87 Armoured Regiment, 41 Armoured Regiment &10 Armoured Regiment received the honours

A historic moment occurred on Tuesday when three Armoured Regiments of the Indian Army at the Suratgarh Military Station were presented with the President’s Standards. Chief of Army Staff, General Bipin Rawat presented the standards to the 87 Armoured Regiment, 41 Armoured Regiment, and 10 Armoured Regiment, after a magnificent and immaculate mounted parade.

Presented on the occasion were Lieutenant General Cherish Mathson, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Sapta Shakti Command, Lieutenant General PC Thimmaya, General Officer Commanding, Chetak Corps and a number of senior military officers and civilian dignitaries.

The 41 Armoured Regiment was raised on 1st July 1980 Ahmednagar with all India class composition and was initially equipped with Vijayanta tanks.

With its motto of “ShauryaMev Jayate”, the regiment has seen action during Operations Trident, operation Rakshak (March 88 - Dec 96), Operation Vijay, Operation Parakram and Operation Rakshak (January 09 - September 11). The regiment has to its honor several awards including 1 Sena Medal, two Vishishth Seva Medal, and several commendations.

The 87 Armoured Regiment took part in operation Trident, operation Rakshak, operation Vijay, operation Prakram, operation Falcon and Northern Borders.

Two PVSM, Two AVSM, one SC, three SM, two VSM and several commendations have been conferred on the regiment. The 10 Armoured Regiment was raised on 16th April 1984 at Ahmednagar and were also equipped with Vijayanta tanks. With their motto “Param Dharam Vijay” the regiment has taken part in operation Trident, operation Rakshak, operation Vijay and Operation Prakram. Four SM and several commendations have been conferred on the regiment.
