Finishing third, the re-contesting candidate from Sanganer, Ghanshyam Tiwari had his political aspirations tossed down three levels. Tiwari was highest margin winner of last assembly election. He was among the senior most leaders in BJP before he quit the party earlier this year following differences with the chief minister.
He raised a parallel political front, the Bharat Vahini Party (BVP) that contested candidates on 62 seats. Accepting defeat, he forwarded well wishes to the next government, "I accept defeat on individual and party level and congratulate those to form the government with optimism that they will work for the public," said Tiwari.
As a BJP candidate in the last election, Tiwari had received 1,12,450 votes, more than 66 per cent of the total votes cast at Sanganer. His decades of association kept the party from initiating disciplinary action and it was him who announced separation from the party. He joined BVP as Rajasthan state president, while his son led the party as the national president. Under the banner of the front, several rallies were held and entered a pre-poll alliance with another new party, the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party.
The election results though had pulled down curtains on his political aspirations.
