Rajasthan: BJP legislative meet to elect LoP on Dec 13

BJP has called its first meeting of newly elected legislators on January 13. It’s expected that the leader of opposition will be finalised in this meeting. Union finance minister Arun Jaitley will be present in this meeting, which will be held at the BJP office on Sunday. outgoing speaker Kailash Meghwal and former home minister Gulab Chand Kataria are in the fray for the LoP.

The party’s parliamentary board had a week back appointed Jaitley as observer for the election of legislative party in the state. Before the meeting, a two-day meeting of national council of the party is being held in New Delhi from Friday. Former chief minister Vasundhara Raje will be participating in this meeting along with many other leaders from the state which include all the MPs, MLAs and mayors of the party. The meeting shall be attended by all party officials of the state, including former presidents.

Raje will be leaving for Delhi on Friday itself to take part in this meeting. BJP president Amit Shah will inaugurate the two-day session, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to deliver the concluding speech on Saturday, which party leaders believe will lay down its agenda for the general elections.
