Information received on mail by the metro authorities resulted in panic among the authority late on Tuesday night, while also kept the city police on its toes for several hours. A mail received by the authorities said that bomb has been planted at a metro station in the city and the entire station will be destroyed.
The police were informed which immediately initiated efforts to locate the bomb and rushed bomb squad and dog squad to the station mentioned in the mail, however, after a thorough search it was found that the information was not right. The police continued their search for the source of the mail and on Wednesday afternoon, nabbed a man in this connection. Interestingly, the man is a former Metro employee who sent the mail as he wanted to teach certain metro officials a lesson for removing him.
The arrested youth has been identified as one Nitesh Agarwal, a native of Peeplu in Tonk district of the state. “Late in the night, the mail was received which was shared by the metro authorities with the Jaipur Commissionerate police and immediately we formed a team that started searching for the origin point of the mail. Meanwhile, the mail mentioned that the bomb had been planted at the Mansarovar metro station and the area was cordoned off. Bomb disposal squad and dog squad were rushed to the spot which started searching for the bomb in the premises. After a thorough search by the two squads and even cops, it was realized that there was no bomb planted at the station and that the information was sent to create panic amongst authorities,” officials said.
Several hours passed in the sweeping process, meanwhile, the cyber unit zeroed in on the origin of the mail. “It was then realized that the mail had been sent by Nitesh,” officials said.
‘To teach a lesson’
Further investigation revealed that the youth was a former Metro employee and had been removed from the services due to irresponsible behaviour last year. He was located by the police team and nabbed after which he confessed to sending the mail to teach his officers a lesson as he was disgruntled. Further action in the matter is being taken,” officials said.
