Rajasthan Industry department’s food festival in March

According to the department officials, the initiative is envisaged to draw a higher level of participation from the general public and even tourists visiting the city.

Rajasthan state Industries department has announced schedule for its first food festival. An initiative of the department to promote traditional delicacies from various parts of the state and provide platform to local food industries, the four day festival ‘Rasoi 2019’ will commence at Jaipur Haat from March 14. The schedule was officially announced following meeting held at Industries department on Friday. 

“The event has been planned to promote trade of spice, kitchen items and other associated industries while offering to visitors ethnic taste of delicacies from various parts of the state,” said Industries commissioner, Krishna Kant Pathak.  

While the department holds trade fairs on regular basis for promotion of different industries, its for the first time that a food festival is being hosted by the department. 

According to the department officials, the initiative is envisaged to draw a higher level of participation from the general public and even tourists visiting the city. 

“Food industry is not just about the big industries and wholesale deals, this has a direct connect with all the people. More people are expected to visit a festival rather than a trade fair,” said an official at the department. 

In preparations of the festival, the industry department has initiated discussions with several food trade associations and the district industry centers have been instructed to ensure maximum participation from their respective areas. The industries commissioner held a video conference with general managers of the district centers on Friday regarding the festival. 

The officials were instructed to insure that the prominent food items from their area find space at the festival and the quality remains assured. 

The initiative, meanwhile, has also drawn appreciation from several local trade organisations. Representatives of the food trade union expressed optimism that the festival will help to promote food items and products from state on national and international markets.
