Two days have passed since BJP MLA from Sheo Manvendra Singh announced to quit from the party, but the BJP or the state assembly is yet to get any official intimation of the same. While ruling party BJP is still in an indecisive mode about him, Manvendra has launched a series of tours to various villages to thank the people and various communities for extending support. Speculations are rife in Barmer that Manvendra would field his wife Chitra Singh in the assembly polls and would himself contest Parliamentary polls. Manvendra, however, said all his decisions would depend on what the public wants.
Manvendra Singh on Monday toured villages in Barmer and thanked the people for extending support and making his rally a success. The tours are being termed as dhanyavaad yatras and being considered as a launch of his public campaign. There is further speculation that he could field his wife Chitra Singh in assembly elections and could himself contest the Parliament polls. Manvendra Singh refused to comment and said all his decisions would be dependent on public will. He said, “What I will do will be decided by the people. I am standing for their swabhiman (self-respect) and they will decide what decision I will take.”
But BJP is also yet to take a decision on its Sheo MLA Speaking to DNA state incharge for BJP Avinash Rai Khanna said, “I will be coming to Jaipur tomorrow and then will have a talk with the leaders there to reach a decision of the issue.”
Even as Manvendra Singh says he is no longer associated with BJP the party is yet to get any official intimation of the same. “We do not have any such communication from him,” said BJP spokesperson Satish Punia to DNA.
According to legislative experts, it is necessary to inform the state assembly in case an MLA leaves the party from which he has been elected. A source in vidhan sabha said, “Till Monday evening there has been no communication from Manvendra Singh about leaving BJP,” said the source.
Close on the heels of the departure of Ghanshyam Tiwari, Manvendra Singh leaving BJP has triggered a crisis of sorts within the ruling paty. The crisis is more aggravated by the fact that both the leaders belong to communities that are not too happy with BJP.
