Empty Regional Transport Office (RTO) on Friday.

This office where hustle and bustle is a routine is wearing a deserted look since the beginning of mahapadav that began 8 days back.

The work of issuing licenses, duplicate copies of registration certificates (RC) and other works related to RTO are currently stopped due to the ongoing strike of babus in the state.

The situation is such that currently, not a single license is being issued. On an average, daily about 250 licenses are issued by RTO Jhalana office.

However, now as the windows are closed, no paperwork is being done. The senior officials are currently completing the formalities of pending licenses while sitting at the office. The license hall was in complete silence on Friday afternoon with no staff or any applicant present there.

This office where hustle and bustle is a routine is wearing a deserted look since the beginning of mahapadav that began 8 days back. Even the brokers who sit outside the RTO are not seen as the work is at a halt. Chairs are empty and windows are closed.

“I had come to get a duplicate copy of RC, but I have been told that there is a strike so I am going back,” said a senior citizen who had come to RTO Jhalana on Friday afternoon.

Not only this, the work of issuing the registration certificate for commercial vehicles is also getting hampered due to the strike of the babus. Currently, the RC for commercial vehicles are given by the RTO officials and therefore that is not being issued.

However, since the authority to give RC to the domestic category of vehicles is with the showrooms, therefore, the RC process is being done. The plastic smart card is not being given due to the strike. Since being a shradh time, not many vehicles are being bought but with the beginning of Navratri, more and more vehicles in the commercial category, as well as domestic category, will be bought.

However, RTO officials inform that the vehicle owners are getting the messages on their mobile phones about the registration details and showroom owners are giving the registration numbers. The current mahapadav of babus is going on since September 20. The employees are on a sit-in at Mansarovar in a huge number.
