Vice-Chancellor of Rajasthan University RK Kothari on Friday warned organisations contesting in the Rajasthan University Students’ Union (RUSU) elections that action will be taken against them if they deface public property or the university premises by putting up posters and banners.

He said that strict action will be taken against the students who deface the university campus and the candidates will be debarred from contesting the elections.

As far a voting is concerned, Kothari said: “This year about 70% to 80% ID cards were issued in June. The remaining ID cards will be issued before the elections. In addition to this, in order to prevent the entry of outsiders, ID card checking machine will be installed at the entry gate this year, which will scan the barcode of the ID card and the entry will be allowed only after the green light. A meeting has also been held with the police authorities to strictly adhere to the Lyngdoh Committee recommendations and action will be taken against the students who will violate the rules.”

Regarding the elections to be held on August 31, the university administration has constituted committees and the work has been assigned to them. Along with this, for two days, in a marathon meeting with the Vice-Chancellor, strict orders have been issued for peaceful completion of elections.
