Member of the Jodhpur royal family, Gaj Singh’s 71th birthday was celebrated on Tuesday, as per the Hindu calendar, at Rathore Darbar Hall of Umaid Bhawan Palace in royal grandeur and tradition.
The Raj Darbar was recreated on this occasion and the former royal family of Marwar, former jagirdars and dignitaries greeted Gaj Singh on the occasion.
Colourful safa was tied on the heads of every one present. Wearing traditional outfits and symbols, with swords in their hands the entire darbar exuded a royal look.
First of all, Tilak Aarti of Gaj Singh was performed amidst chanting of mantras by the rajpurohits and rajpandits according to tradition and after that the nazar nichawar ceremony started.
First of all, Shivaraj Singh, son Gaj Singh offered nazar and after this, the other people of the royal family, former royals, and other guests offered nazar. On this occasion, many guests were present.
Prior to this, Gaj Singh offered prayers at Maa Chamunda Temple located at the Mehrangarh Fort.
He also offer prayers at Mahal Mandir of Baadi, and Kuldevi Maa Nagnechiya.
Upon his arrival at Umaid Bhawan Palace from Mehrangarh, Shivranjani Raje, his daughter greeted him with a traditional aarti at the gates of Umaid Bhawan.
It is worth mentioning here that Gaj Singh’s birthday as per the English calendar falls on January 13. He has also served as Indian High Commissioner to Trinidad and Tobago and served a term in the Rajya Sabha, the Upper House of the Indian Parliament.
