The University of Rajasthan is expecting an increase in income by 49 per cent in the year 2018-19, as was approved during a syndicate meeting held at institution on Monday.
According to sources, the university is expecting an income of Rs 349 crore this year, while the budget estimates for the year 2017-18 was Rs 234.51 crore. However, there is an overall deficit of Rs 40 crore.
The amount, however, only represents non-plan income and expenditure.
“The university has approved the budget estimates of the year 2018-19. They are expecting an income of Rs 349 crore this year. However, an expenditure of Rs 389 crore is expected as well. Overall, the budget has constituted to a deficit of Rs 39.87 crore. This is just an estimate and the actual figures may differ,” said a source closely related to the matter.
It is to be noted the revised estimates of university budget for the year 2016-17 revealed a deficit of Rs 52.5 crore. In addition to this, the university showcased a budgeted deficit of Rs 118.65 crore for the year 2017-18.
Furthermore, the university will also experience an increase in expenditure by 10.19 per cent as the budgeted estimate of expenditure last year was Rs 353.16 crore.
In addition to this, according to other sources, a committee has been constituted under the convenership of professor Santosh Pandey.
“The committee will provide suggestions for the structural and presentational way of the budget,” the source said.
