Algeria is culturally very strong, says Kavita Krishnamurthy, who is performing in the country

Singer Kavita Krishnamurthy is performing in Algeria along with her husband. She reveals how much she loves the exotic country.

Though I still sing in Hindi films, classical music is something that is really close to my heart. Naturally, doing shows all over the world is something that I have been enjoying immensely and my husband Dr L Subramaniam is always there to give me company.
We have performed at many countries but the one I’m currently visiting is outstanding. It’s the first time we have come to Algeria — known as the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.

This country is actually very huge and I have been told that it is the largest country on the Mediterranean Sea. And talking about sea, the costal areas are overwhelmingly beautiful.

Though we have just arrived in the country, the reception was warm and friendly. One of the cities that caught our fancy was Constantine, supposedly one of the oldest cities in the world, built on rocks. The city is surrounded by deep ravines and is so scenic, that words would fail to describe its beauty. The roads are narrow and clean and makes us want to stroll around. There are five beautiful bridges here and the lovely museums and places of historical importance are quite delightful too.

The country is culturally very strong and chatting up with people confirms their deep interest. We have just arrived and managed to catch up with a lot in a very short time.

After the performance, we are planning to explore the country and its cultural and historical milieu extensively.
