Forget workouts with dumbbells and treadmills and picture a group of women during a ‘workout’ session using props like fur boas, leather jackets and stilettos.
That’s the scene at a workout session conducted at a fitness studio in Mumbai, which includes pole dancing and lap dance for burning those calories.
“It is a high energy workout session of one hour which includes a basic warm- up followed by the exotic dance workout.”
Besides the fun factor, the workout also scores high on helping one to lose the kilos “An hour-long session of the Lipstick workout easily burns approximately 400 to 800 calories,” informs Lavina Khanna, instructor at a fitness studio.
Today people are always on the look out to try something different, something that is a novelty, to break mundane routines of everyday lives. Women today are confident and want to
explore new trends, “I have had 200 women so far, who have come for the exotic dance class that I conduct,” Shilpa Rane instructor at a gym, tell us.
In addition to pole dancing and lap dance, Rane’s classes also include Striptease. “It’s a toning workout which improves your posture, works on your core and lower body, but that’s not all. Besides it being a form of exercise, these workouts are all about having an attitude and oomph and are a great esteem
enhancer,” adds Shilpa.
With moves like the shimmy, whack, diva pop, booty pop, and grind, one can be assured of losing their inhibitions along with the extra fat and having a blast along the way. “I get women from all age groups who come for the Lipstick workout. The oldest student I have is 65 years old, and she has the best legs among all of us.” laughs Lavina.
