Actor Arjun Rampal may be losing and putting on weight drastically for his roles but the actor isn’t a big fan of the bulky look. Arjun who had to look lean and muscular for Ra.One where he played a evil superhero, worked ridiculously hard to achieve the chiseled look. Talking about it, he reveals, “I don’t remember how many hours I spent in the gym to get the muscular, chiseled look. I had to look a certain way. I had to lose weight, build muscles and look evil and I worked very hard for it. But otherwise I am not a big fan of building muscles. I don’t like being bulked up. I don’t like my clothes getting tight,” he reveals.

For Arjun, who has always been athletic right since college, fitness is a way of life. “More than how much weight you put on or lose, being fit is about building stamina. People ask me about my six pack abs, but the truth is that I have always been fitness conscious. Fitness for everyone, has to be something that comes from within. I am very passionate about living healthy and being fit and that translates in my lifestyle. I think it’s essential for everyone to be fit. Plus my workouts function as stress busters for me,” he says.

The actor’s fitness regime essentially is five days a week where each day he concentrates on two body parts. “My workouts range anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half. I do a lot of stretches and give adequate rest to my body after I train because I train continuously without a break. I also do a number of exercises for my back, which is my problem area,” says Arjun.

Though he goes to the gym, he is a big fan of the outdoors as well. “I play tennis or swim, cycle, run or indulge in outdoor sports as I tend to get bored at the gym. Your body also needs to have variety or else it will get used to the exercises,” explains Arjun. He also practices Tabat, a high-intensity Japanese training programme where 20 seconds of exercise is followed by 10 seconds of rest. This must be done eight times within four minutes. This reportedly burns a lot of fat as your heart rate goes up to the maximum.
