After looking at Sanjana Rishi's bridal look, celebrity designer Masaba Gupta and Bollywood producer Rhea Kapoor too could not hold back their words of appreciation.
This is a time for modern working women as they try seeping in comfort and style while keeping in mind the extravagant Indian traditions that a wedding entails. Entrepreneur Sanjana Rishi, for the past few days, has been taking the internet by storm as she swapped a traditional lehenga with a pantsuit for her wedding day.
Traditional 10 kilos wedding attires are not only impractical during COVID-19 but also cost a bomb as, more often than not, the bride wears it just the one time, however, desi bride Sanjana has changed bridal fashion (For good?) by ditching a heavy lehenga or saree for a stunning pale-blue vintage pantsuit, and what more? the internet seems to agree with her.
Taking to her Instagram handle, Sanjana shared some pictures as she paired a pale blue Gianfranco Ferré pantsuit with a delicately embroidered veil patta. She accessorised her look with an Amristari 'mangtika' completed the bridal styling in a pair of uber-chic beaded juttis.
Not only that, during a lockdown wedding and with an intimate guest-list, our desi bride also made sure that she was surrounded by the belongings of all the people that she loves. She did this by "stealing" the earrings from her sisters Saloni Kotwal and Rangana Kotwal while her corset was borrowed from her best friend’s mother.
Sanjana said, "Who says bridal looks have to fit a mold, cultural or otherwise? The only thing a look must fit (other than your body) is your personality! I wanted to choose a wedding outfit that encapsulated my style but also stayed true to my commitment to supporting sustainability, local artisans, and ethical shopping. I think I did great!"
While the internet agreed with Sanjana's choices, celebrity designer Masaba Gupta and Bollywood producer Rhea Kapoor also could not hold back praises and words of appreciation. While Masaba wrote, "Omg how Great do you look!! (sic)", Rhea commented, "Hi I love your outfit (sic)."
With her bold yet minimalistic bridal look, Sanjana will surely prove to be an inspiration for brides looking to"jazz-up" their wedding amid these unprecedented times. Without the poufiness of a lehenga and the weary weight of the jewelry, all energy goes into enjoying the big day - win-win.
