Diplomat Abhay K's 'The Seduction of Delhi' launched at Zee Jaipur Literature Festival

The book has been beautifully illustrated by the Italian artist Tarshito aka Niccola Strippoli and carries a preface by retired author-diplomat Pavan K Varma and a note on poetry-painting pairing by noted art critic and poet Ranjit Hoskote.

Earlier in the day, Mehrotra addressed the gathering on poetic imagination along with Pulitzer Prize winning poet Vijay Seshadri.

The Seduction of Delhi is the fifth collection of poems by Abhay K who has been honoured with the SAARC Literary Award and nominated for the Pushcart Prize earlier. The poems in his latest collection not only pay homage to historical personalities and cities of Delhi but also to present inhabitants of Delhi.



The book has been illustrated beautifully by Italian artist Tarshito and has been reviewed by Indian poet Jayanta Mahapatra, T.S. Eliot Prize winning poet George Szirtes and American poet Dorianne Laux.

Abhay K writes about with great love about the seven cities of Delhi, including old monuments viz. Qutub Minar, Alai Minar, Lal Qila, Ugrasen Ki Bauli and Jantar Mantar, as well as new edifices such as the Cannaught Place, Khan Market, Nehru Park and the India Coffee House etc, historical personalities like Mirza Ghalib, Dara Shikoh, Rahim, Nizamuddin, and the Yamuna that flows past Delhi, Delhi's ubiquitous trees such as Neem and Jamun, and the unique three-wheeler auto rickshaw.
