Cannes Lion winner, artist Prasad Raghavan, showcases art works that are his interpretation of some of the best world cinema.

Artist Prasad Raghavan started his advertising career in 1991 and has worked in agencies such as Contract Advertising, Ogilvy & Mather Saatchi & Saatchi and has even won a Cannes Lions for directing an ad film.

And in 2004, Prasad started a film club, A:DOOR — “the world’s best movies, free.”  This move marked a new beginning — designing posters based on his interpretations of the movies or its titles.

Prasad recalls, “After fifteen long years into advertising I thought of doing something different. I have always been very passionate about world cinema and I thought of forming a film club where in people can get to see these movies for free. In fact I also designed a cafeteria but had to drop the plan to begin one.”

Prasad’s personal collection of movies boasts of about 1,000 movies from all over the world. “And there are many more that I have seen borrowing them from my friends.” He continues, “I gradually started developing my own interpretation of these movies or just their titles and portraying the same on the canvas.”

During the art boom, Prasad got an opportunity to showcase these works and he made his first break in the art fraternity. “People seem to like my work. I do oil on canvas, charcoal, pastel, mix
media drawing, installations and digital prints.”
