The last thing most people would be up for after a strenuous 1100 kilometer drive through the desert is a party, but Gautam Singhania has exactly that in mind for the weekend. Just back from a 4-day long adventure expedition in the desert state with bunch of CEOs, Singhania is still marvelling about the sights and sounds. "It was such a delight to see Rajasthan like this," beamed Gautam. The expedition was flagged off by Arvind Singh Mewar (pictured with Gautam and his cousin Vikrampati Singhania) after a lavish lunch at his Udaipur Palace and ended with another feast hosted by Gaj Singh's family at the Ajit Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur.
Whether it was his Marwari roots that inspired the idea or just the thrill of off-roading, the super car afficionado planned a route map that started at Udaipur and went to Jodhpur via Jaisalmer - which allowed for a breathtaking sight of thousands of Demoiselle cranes at Khichan Desert, taking the wheel of a Nissan one-tonne Army truck at Devgarh and riding a Rage Buggy on the dunes near the 16th-century Khimsar Fort. While we're expecting plenty of exciting anecdotes about the epic journey when a large group of race drivers gather for a round of drinks with Gautam this Saturday, there's a small surprise in store as well - a special award to honour the 'most promising motorist' which will be given away by the man himself. Nice.
