After having successfully organised India’s first ever Hair and Make-up Week earlier this year, hair and make-up experts Bharat and Dorris Godambe are now putting together the B & D Awards, an awards function that aims at recognising the gamut of talent in the make-up and hair segment in the country.

Slated to take place on September 8, the awards function is expected to attract Bollywood presence in full force — with superstar Shah Rukh Khan leading the way. “It’s high time we had an awards function of this kind. For far too long, the hair and make-up experts have gone unnoticed. We plan to change that,” says Dorris Godambe, who wants to make the awards an annual function.

So while the finale will be held on September 8, the preliminary rounds will be taking place on on the prior weekend. “Over the period of these three days, we will be shortlisting seven hair and make-up experts in each of the following categories namely, bridal, fashion, funky and mythology. On the day of the finale, the jury will select three winners of the seven,” explains Dorris.

The jury of course, has the who’s who of tinseltown. With over 150-300 entries (from all major cities including Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai) spread over the four categories, some of the celeb names on the pannel include designers Neeta Lulla and Vikram Phadnis, editor Satya Saran, models Gauhar Khan, Tupur and Tapur Chatterjee, and Aditi Govitrikar, lensmen Gautam Rajyadhyaksha, Subi Samuel and Daboo Ratnani.

“Apart from them, we also have industry names such as Dilshad Pastakia, Coleen Khan and Haakim’s Alim amongst many others. In fact, the finale jury boasts of names such as Jamuna Pai, Mickey Contractor, Manish Mlahotra, Raveena Tandon and Urmilla Matondkar amongst other celebs,” she enthuses.
