For couples keen on tying the knot on an ‘auspicious’ date this wedding season, here is some good news. Astrologers say the current wedding season extends till March 12 this year and there are many auspicious dates in this period. This makes it easier for couples to choose a benefic date which fits in with their other plans.
Going by what astrologers are saying, there will be many weddings in the state on February 8 which, they say, is one of the most auspicious days for marriage before March. Explaining why it is so, well-known astrologer Mahendra Pandya said that February 8 is auspicious because it is Vasant Panchami (fifth day of spring).
“Due to this, the maximum weddings in Gujarat will take place on February 8,” Pandya said.
Apart from that, Jan 28 is another benefic date, said astrologer Maulik Bhatt. Talking about other benefic dates, he said that in February this year, the 7th, 8th and the 9th are good.
“Also, the ‘panchang’ suggests that the 12th and the 18th are also quite auspicious for weddings, as also the period from February 20 to 25,” he said.
So, what is so special about these dates that makes them auspicious for weddings? Bhatt said that the dates are benefic because they meet the ‘nakshatra’, ‘tithi’ and other astrological considerations required for auspicious dates.
“These dates are totally auspicious and have no blemish of any kind,” he said. “Also, factors such as the raashi (moon sign) of the bride and the groom are taken into account to find out the best out of the auspicious wedding dates for a couple.”
Talking of the good dates in March, Pandya said March 1, 7, 8, 9 and 12 are very benefic. “After March 12, there is no auspicious date till April 26,” he said.
“The Sun enters ‘Meen’ (Pisces) raashi on March 15 and stays there till mid-April. This period
is called ‘Meenarak’, and
is considered inauspicious for marriages.”
Regarding the benefic dates that have already passed, Pandya said January 23 was very auspicious, which is why a large number of weddings took place in the city on that day.
