Hartalika Teej is celebrated every year on Tritiya of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month. Along with Delhi-NCR, it is celebrated in many areas of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Jharkhand. This year, Hartalika Teej will be celebrated on 9th September (Thursday). 
 
In some areas of North India, Hartalika Teej is also known as Teeja. For long life of their husband, married women keep a fast by not eating or drinking anything. This fast is similar to Karva Chauth.
 
Hartalika Teej 2021: Shubh muhurat and three important things
 
1. As per astrological calculations, Tritiya with Chaturthi has special significance in increasing good fortune. The Vrat Puja Muhurta on Haritalika will be from 6.03 am to 8.33 am on Thursday morning.
 
2. At the same time, the timing of Pradoshkal Haritalika Vrat Puja Muhurta will be from 6.33 pm to 8.51 pm on Thursday evening.
 
3. Apart from this, Tritiya Tithi will start from 2:33 am on Thursday night, while Tritiya Tithi will end on Friday (10 September 2021) till 12.18 am.
 
 Be careful during fasting
 
This festival is one of the important festivals for women, but there is a need for great care and vigilance during the fasting of Hartalika Teej. 
 
A woman who is fasting is forbidden to sleep at night.
 
Hartalika Teej fasting is very difficult. It is a belief that women who are on fast should not sleep at night. Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are worshipped during this time. It is believed that if a woman falls asleep on the day of the fast, she will be born as a python in the next life.
 
Should not break the fast in between
 
Fasting on Hartalika Teej with strict rules is more difficult than fasting on Karva Chauth. On this day, if a woman has started the fast then she can’t leave it is middle despite of facing any difficulty.
 
Keep control during fast
 
On the day of fasting, women should lead a simple life. Also, study religious books during this time. Do not get angry with anyone on this day and keep your inner peace. It is said that anger drives people away from devotion. Therefore, on this day, women observing fast should not use abusive words.
 
Puja in the morning
 
The time of puja on Hartalika Teej is considered early in the morning. This time is also very auspicious. If due for any reason women are unable to perform puja in the morning, then they can perform puja during Pradosh Kaal after sunset.
 
Worship Shiva, Parvati and Ganesh
 
If women worship Lord Shiva, Mata Parvati and Lord Ganesha with sand or black soil, then it is more beneficial. During the puja, women should decorate the place of worship with beautiful flowers and also keep a chowki. The flowers should be fresh and only after washing the flowers thoroughly, you should worship them. Put idols of Lord Ganesha along with Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati on banana leaves. According to religious belief, banana leaves are considered auspicious in every puja.
Clothes can be donated to brahmins
 
Women should worship Lord Shiva, Mata Parvati and Lord Ganesha with full devotion and the Shodashopachar method. According to the belief, during the worship, women should offer all the bridal things (Suhaag ki Vastu) to Goddess Parvati with full devotion. Dhoti and angocha should be devoted to Lord Shiva. Generally, women donate their dhoti and angocha to a Brahmin after the puja. This tradition continues even after centuries. After worship, one should listen to the story of Teej and do Jagran throughout the night, it is a religious belief that women observing fast should not sleep under any circumstances. After this, women perform aarti the next morning after bath and then offer vermilion to Goddess Parvati. Usually, the fast is ended by offering halwa in the morning. It is also believed that if a woman observing a fast donates makeup items, clothes, food items, fruits, sweets, etc., it is considered very auspicious.
