How is Mumbai celebrating the Halloween weekend

No other occasion but Halloween gives you a licence to look scarily sexy! While the catwoman look was the popular one last year, this time around it’s the vampire get-up that’s a la mode (thanks to Twilight and Vampire Diaries).

Celebrity make-up artist Reema Sablok elaborates, “Don the vampire look with tight corset, teamed up with red lipstick and smoky eyes,” says Reema. “To make it more dramatic, wear an old white dress and mark it with a blood strain, paint your lips red and let the lipstick bleed. You could even try the fangs,” she adds.

Designer duo Ridhi and Sidhi Mapxencar have their special halloween designs — black jackets, blazers, dresses and gowns.

“You can never go wrong with black. Also red and other dark colours are good fits for Halloween. Since nobody is judging you, go for robes, exaggerated capes, flowy sleaves… Accesorise your dress with a lot of bling and goth elements like skeleton, bones, etc,” suggests Sidhi. To help you look spooky and scary, fashion designer Ayesha has launched a special range of accessories which includes filigree earrings, trinket hairclips, bands, bulb and lamp neck pendants, blingy bracelets, black scarves and hats.

Inglot too has a special series of wild and whacky eyelashes that you can opt for.

While you decide what to transform into — witches, ghouls, vampires, mummies or goblins — here’s a look at what the city clubs are up to:

Bonobo bar, Bandra, offers some intense scary fun with its spooky theme. “It’ll be filled with witches, mummies and bats. You can pose with them and get a picture clicked in the photo studio installed at the venue,” says Anup of Bonobo. “The visuals too will be taken care of with witches and skeletons dancing around. We also have make-up artists to give you the perfect Halloween get-up along with some props like rusty nails, fangs, swords, etc.”

The Velvet Lounge (Renaissance Hotel) will have vampires serving you the theme-based drinks as you dance amidst a setting of skeletons, pumpkins and bloodcurling masks. Puran Nayak of Hawaiian Shack says, “We’ve got skeletons, spider webs, werewolves, coffins, wizards, pumpkins, the grim reaper and witches to decorate the place. There’ll also be special sound effects.”
