Actor Chandrachur Singh talks about his culinary skills as he’ll soon be seen hosting a food show, his maiden stint on TV

Not many are aware that actor Chandrachur Singh’s skills go beyond just the silver screen.

The Josh star — who was a music teacher at Doon School (before he took to acting) — is also a brilliant cook and admits that cooking is a part of his life. Singh will soon be seen hosting a new food show on television called Royal Rasoi.

‘I love food,” asserts Singh, adding that it serves as both a visual as well as a gastronomic treat for him. “I enjoy cooking too, though it was something I took up relatively later in life. But I cook with great diligence and constitution,” he says. The weekly show, will talk about royal household, where the recipe comes from, special recipe along with the history and anecdotes attached to it.

Also, the show will mark Singh’s debut on the small screen. So how did he happen to host a food show of all things? “Well it was a chance happening… really! It happened so suddenly,” says Singh. “My brother Aditya is producing the show, and since I’m a little free for the moment, before my movie promotions begin, I decided to host the show. And of course, the foodie in me was quite tempted by the concept of this travel and lifestyle show,” he grins.

The show highlights the recipes shared by the royals of a particular place each week. “Each episode caters to one city. In fact, for one of the episodes, we shot in Karauli (Rajasthan) — that’s where my paternal grandfather belongs to. It was so fascinating,” says Singh who has three movies up for release in sometime. “I’m actually learning the recipes when I see them cooking. The families have their unique recipes to share!” Singh claims that cooking is a great stress-buster for him. “I love cooking, it’s such a stress buster. On a holiday, I usually cook for close friends or family. I’ve had a history of cooking. My grandmother is a great cook. And so is my mom!”
