There are those among us who can’t survive without our first cup of coffee. It’s as if, despite years of evolution, the human brain is completely irrational until the first bit of caffeine hits the system. There are different ways we prefer our coffee. Some of us like it black as the devil’s the heart, while others love a frothy cappuccino. Many of us swear by iced coffee while others like it piping hot but we can all agree, there is no life without coffee.
And on International Coffee Day, here are 10 quotes that celebrate this beautiful drink:
1) We want to do a lot of stuff; we're not in great shape. We didn't get a good night's sleep. We're a little depressed. Coffee solves all these problems in one delightful little cup. - Jerry Seinfield
2) I never drink coffee at lunch. I find it keeps me awake for the afternoon. - Ronald Reagan
3) It is inhumane, in my opinion, to force people who have a genuine medical need for coffee to wait in line behind people who apparently view it as some kind of recreational activity. – Dave Barry
4) Among the numerous luxuries of the table...coffee may be considered as one of the most valuable. It excites cheerfulness without intoxication; and the pleasing flow of spirits which it occasions...is never followed by sadness, languor or debility. - Benjamin Franklin
5) It's just like when you've got some coffee that's too black, which means it's too strong. What do you do? You integrate it with cream, you make it weak. But if you pour too much cream in it, you won't even know you ever had coffee. It used to be hot, it becomes cool. It used to be strong, it becomes weak. It used to wake you up, now it puts you to sleep. - Malcom X
6) Life’s too short to drink crappy coffee and cry over boys who don’t care.” - Unknown
7) The joke was that President Bush only declared war when Starbucks was hit. You can mess with the U.N. all you want, but when you start interfering with the right to get caffeinated, someone has to pay.”
― Chris Kyle, American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History
8) Coffee: the favourite drink of the civilized world. - Thomas Jefferson
9) Should I kill myself, or have a cup of coffee? - Albert Camus
